Which security cameras work with Alexa? Nine makers, and what needs a plan
All nine show live view on an Echo Show. They differ on what opens by itself, how long it lasts, and which Alexa features need the maker's plan.

All nine makers read here say their cameras work with Alexa: Ring, Blink, Nest, Arlo, Wyze, eufy, Tapo, Reolink and Lorex. Each shows live view on an Echo with a screen when you ask. The differences are which models, what happens without asking, and what needs the maker's plan. Everything here is from each maker's own support pages, read 3 October 2026.
If you have an Echo Show and want no monthly fee, this one is on Wyze's own Alexa list and records to a microSD card without a plan.

Every maker on this site documents the same kind of command: "Alexa, show" and the camera's name. So the useful comparison is in the details the makers put further down the page.
| Maker | Live view on an Echo screen | Opens by itself | Needs the maker's plan |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ring | Yes | Doorbell press, 15 seconds | Package announcements; see the footnote below |
| Blink | Yes — lasts 5 minutes | Doorbell press | — |
| Nest | Yes | — | — |
| Arlo | Yes | — | "Show me the last motion detected" |
| Wyze | Yes, on the cameras it lists | — | — |
| eufy | Yes | Doorbell: "not supported"; Doorbell Dual can on motion | — |
| Tapo | Yes — may disconnect after a period | "Not supported" | — |
| Reolink | Yes, except Duo, Go and kit add-on cameras alone | — | — |
| Lorex | Yes, on "select products" | — | — |
From each maker's own support pages, read 3 October 2026. A dash means the pages read do not say. "Needs the maker's plan" covers Alexa features only; whether the camera records without a plan is a separate question, answered on this site's page for each brand.
Read across the rows and two groups appear. Ring and Blink, both owned by Amazon, do the most without being asked: a doorbell press opens the camera on the Echo Show. The others show the camera when you ask, and some announce motion. That matters most for a doorbell, where the whole point is seeing who is there before you walk to the door.
Do you need an Echo Show to see the camera?
You need an Echo with a screen for video. Wyze says so in as many words: to view live stream "You'll need an Amazon Echo with a screen (Amazon Echo Spot or Amazon Echo Show)". Google says the same of Nest. An Echo without a screen can still announce motion or a doorbell press.
Fire TV counts too for several of them: Blink, Tapo, Wyze and Ring all name Fire TV devices alongside the Echo Show, and Ring adds Picture-in-Picture, which puts the camera in the corner of the TV "while you continue watching your program" on select models. Reolink is the one maker that says the screen is optional: an Echo Show is "optional for cameras that support live viewing via the Alexa App", because the Alexa app on a phone shows the feed too.
Does the camera appear on the Echo Show by itself?
Only some. Ring and Blink open live view on an Echo Show when the doorbell is pressed — Ring for 15 seconds. Tapo says its screens "do not support showing the Live View page of the Tapo cam automatically", and eufy's doorbell page lists auto live streaming as "not supported".
Blink describes it most plainly: with doorbell press notifications on, "Alexa will announce "Someone is at your Doorbell" and automatically start a live view on your screened Alexa device". Ring's version lasts 15 seconds. eufy is split by model: its general doorbell page says "Auto live streaming when the doorbell is ringing - not supported", while its Video Doorbell Dual page says you "can configure compatible Alexa devices to display the live feed" when it detects motion.
Do Alexa camera features need a subscription?
Mostly no, with two named exceptions. Arlo's "show me the last motion detected" needs "an Arlo subscription plan or trial", and Ring's package announcements need "a subscription to a Ring plan". None of the other pages read puts Alexa live view behind a plan.
Ring's page needs a closer read. Its opening sentence, that Ring-compatible Amazon devices can "make announcements, use Two-Way Talk, and watch Live View", carries a footnote: "Compatible Ring subscription required and Alexa+ enabled. Availability limited to mobile devices with select primary languages." The page does not say which of those features the footnote covers. If Alexa is the reason for choosing Ring, ask Ring which features need the plan. What Ring keeps without one is on the Ring page, and Arlo's on the Arlo page.
The bigger question is not Alexa at all. A camera that shows live view on an Echo but records nothing without a plan still needs the plan for a recording. Blink's answer is on the Blink page.
How long does live view last on an Echo?
Two makers state one. Blink says live view on an Alexa screen "will last for 5 minutes". Tapo says a stream on an Echo Show "may disconnect after a period due to cloud-to-cloud service limitations", and you ask again to resume.
Tapo gives the reason: viewing on an Echo Show is a "Cloud-to-Cloud service", so the video travels from the camera through the internet rather than across your home network. That also means a Tapo camera has to be online for Alexa to show it, even though it records to its card without the internet.
Does every model of each brand work with Alexa?
Not quite. Reolink excludes its Duo and Go lines and the add-on cameras in its recorder kits when used on their own; Wyze lists its compatible cameras by name; Lorex says "select products"; and Tapo says announcements are "not supported on certain Tapo camera models".
Reolink's table is the one to check before buying a kit. Used on their own, the "Add-on cameras(V800,B800...) included in the NVR kits" are marked "No", while a camera behind a newer Reolink recorder or a Home Hub works "Even if the camera originally does not support the smart home feature". eufy says "all SoloCam models support Alexa", and Wyze's list includes the Wyze Cam v4. Whether each records without a plan is on the Reolink page, the eufy page and the Wyze page.
Which should you buy for an Echo Show and no plan?
Pick a camera from a maker that records to a card or a hub without a plan, then check the model against that maker's Alexa page. Every product below is covered by its maker's Alexa page as of 3 October 2026, and each records with no subscription. The brands that need a plan to record are on the roundup; Tapo's free tier is on the Tapo page.
