Camera return policies compared: who takes it back, and for how long
Every maker's return window covers only its own store. Bought on Amazon, Amazon's 30 days apply. Ring.com gives 45, the longest here.

It depends on where you bought it, not which brand it is. Every maker read here takes returns only for its own store: Ring says it "can only process returns for products purchased through Ring.com", and Wyze "will not accept returns of Products purchased from other retailers". Bought on Amazon, Amazon's policy applies. Everything below is from each company's own page, read 27 September 2026.
The return window belongs to the shop, not the brand. Bought on Amazon, Amazon's 30 days apply; each maker's own policy covers only its own store.
- Amazon: most items, 30 days from delivery.
- Ring.com (US): 45 days from shipping, free returns.
- Wyze, Arlo, eufy, Reolink stores: 30 days, and usually you pay the postage unless it is faulty.
- Tapo and Blink: no store policy of their own; the shop you bought from decides.
From each company’s own page, read 27 September 2026. Not legal advice.
Which camera return policy applies to you?
The one that belongs to the shop. A camera bought on Amazon goes back to Amazon, under Amazon's rules, even if the maker's own store would have given longer. A camera bought on the maker's site goes back to the maker. None of the makers read here will take back a camera another shop sold.
| Maker | Window | Counted from | Return postage | Bought elsewhere |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Amazon | 30 days, most items | Delivery | Free at many locations for eligible items | — |
| Ring (US, Ring.com) | 45 days | Ship date | "No charges" within 45 days | Amazon or other retailer's rules |
| Wyze (wyze.com, app) | 30 days | Purchase | Label provided; shipping not refunded | "Will not accept" |
| Arlo (arlo.com) | 30 days | Shipment | "Non-refundable" | Policy covers arlo.com orders |
| eufy (its stores) | 30 days, any reason | Purchase | You pay, unless faulty | "Contact retailers" |
| Reolink | 30 days | Delivery | You pay for personal reasons; Reolink for DOA | — |
| TP-Link / Tapo | No returns under warranty | — | — | The retailer's policy |
| Blink | No store policy read | — | — | Buy links go to Amazon |
Each row from that company's own page, read 27 September 2026; quotation marks are its own words. A dash means the page read does not say. Ring's window outside the US is 30 days from receipt. Not legal advice.
That matters more than the numbers in the second column. Most of those windows are 30 days, and they differ mainly in what the day count starts from (purchase, shipment or delivery) and in who pays the postage. The bigger difference is whose policy you are under at all, and that was settled at checkout.
How long does Amazon give to return a camera?
Most items, 30 days from delivery. Amazon's own words: "Most items sold on Amazon.com can be returned within 30 days of delivery", with exceptions, and in "original or unused condition" for a refund or exchange. Amazon adds that for eligible items there are free returns at many locations, and that an item's return eligibility is on its product page before you order and in your order history after.
This site's links go to Amazon, so this is the window that applies to a camera bought through them. Amazon's page read here says nothing about a holiday extension; if Amazon publishes one for this year, it will be on that page.
Which maker gives the longest return window?
Ring, bought from Ring.com in the US: "45 days from the ship date of your order", with "no charges for returns within the 45-day return period". Outside the US, Ring's window is 30 days from the day the item arrived.
Ring is an Amazon company, and its own store still gives fifteen days more than Amazon's general policy does. The catch is the same one as everywhere else on this page: those 45 days are Ring.com's. Ring's article says items bought from Amazon or other retailers "must follow their respective return procedures".
Who pays to send a camera back?
On most of them, you do, unless the camera is faulty. Wyze does not refund shipping and handling, Arlo says "shipping costs are non-refundable", and eufy and Reolink charge return shipping when the reason is yours rather than a defect. Ring charges nothing within its 45 days.
eufy puts it as "For non-quality related warranty claims, buyer is responsible for shipping costs"; Reolink as "For refunds requested due to personal reasons, you are responsible for the return shipping costs", while it pays when the camera arrived dead. Wyze sends a prepaid label but keeps the original shipping charge, and warns that "Products purchased during special sale events may be non-returnable". It also refunds, "at its sole option", to your payment method, as Wyze store credit or as a gift card.
For a camera bought to try, the practical difference is a few dollars of postage. For one bought in a sale on a maker's own store, it can be the difference between a return and no return.
How do you return a Tapo camera?
Where you bought it. TP-Link's own warranty page says its limited warranty "does not provide refunds, returns, or exchanges under most conditions"; it replaces faulty cameras, usually with factory-refurbished ones, within a one-year warranty. So a Tapo camera goes back under the policy of the shop that sold it. What Tapo does and does not need a plan for is on the Tapo page.
How do you return a Blink camera?
Through Amazon, in practice. Blink's own site sends its buy links to Amazon listings, and no store return policy of Blink's own was found on it; its terms page lists a one-year limited warranty. The Sync Module question, which decides whether a Blink camera keeps anything without a plan, is on the Blink page.
What does the warranty cover after that?
Once the return window closes, a faulty camera is a warranty claim, and the lengths differ more than the return windows do.
| Maker | Camera warranty | Condition |
|---|---|---|
| Reolink | 2 years | Plus 6 months if you register the product |
| Wyze | 18 months, or 1 year | 18 from Wyze since 1 January 2026; 1 year from an authorized retailer |
| eufy | 12 months | "Security Camera" in its warranty table |
| Ring | 1 year | "one-year manufacturer's warranty" |
| Blink | 1 year | "One-Year Limited Warranty" |
| TP-Link / Tapo | 1 year | Replacement, usually factory-refurbished |
| Arlo | Not read | Its terms of sale were read, not its warranty |
From the same pages, read 27 September 2026. A warranty covers defects, not a change of mind; how to claim is on each page.
eufy's warranty is "restricted to the country of purchase", and Reolink's starts on the date of delivery. Wyze's 18 months is for cameras bought from Wyze from 1 January 2026; bought from an authorized retailer, Wyze's page says one year.
Does returning the camera cancel the subscription?
No. A return covers the hardware; a subscription is billed separately and has its own rules. Whether any money comes back on a cancelled plan is on this site's refund page, maker by maker. It is on the refund page. The answers there run from "no refund" to "it depends where you bought the plan", which is Blink's case.
If the reason for a return is the subscription itself, the cameras that keep their video without one are on the roundup, with the brand pages for Ring, Wyze, Arlo, eufy and Reolink.
Corrections
If a window here has changed since the date beside it, tell us and it is corrected with the new date noted. Return policies change around the holidays more than at any other time, which is why every row carries the day it was read.

How this was checked
Every row was read from the company's own page on 27 September 2026: Amazon, https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=GKM69DUUYKQWKWX7; Ring, https://ring.com/support/articles/1530n/Ring-Return-Policy; Wyze, https://www.wyze.com/policies/refund-policy (effective 12 June 2026); Arlo, https://us.arlo.com/pages/terms-of-sale; eufy, https://www.eufy.com/policies/refund-policy; Reolink, https://reolink.com/us/warranty-and-return/; TP-Link, https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/replacement-warranty/; Blink, https://blinkforhome.com/ and https://blinkforhome.com/blink-terms-warranties-and-notices. Reolink's store also serves a page at store.reolink.com/us/return-policy/ that is empty ("Page Not Found"); the policy is on its warranty-and-return page instead.
Nothing here is legal advice, and no camera was returned to test it.
