Which doorbell cameras work without a subscription?
Every Reolink, eufy, Tapo and Lorex doorbell records to storage you own with no plan. Ring and SimpliSafe keep nothing. Read from each maker's own page.
I run SecureNest HQ. I do not test cameras — I read what the companies publish about them: plan pages, support articles, privacy notices and terms, and I record the date I read each one. That method is the whole point. Prices and plan names in this industry change often enough that most published comparisons are wrong within months, and a dated figure from the maker's own page is worth more than a confident undated one from anywhere else. Every article says what was checked, when, and what was not. Corrections are welcome and are made with the new date noted.

Four of the ten brands save nothing when a parcel is taken, and Nest deletes the free clip within hours. What each camera keeps, read from its maker.

Tapo Care stopped being a plan and became three. The entry price never moved; everything around it did. All six figures, read from Tapo's own page and dated.

Four Cloud Backup prices, all published. Plus a second eufy subscription at $15 a month that buys shipping, not storage — and which eufy's own page prices twice.

Blink asks for five seconds. Ring's list ends with buying an eero. Wyze wants your router's security mode changed. Three makers, one symptom, quoted and dated.

Ring's single-device plan, formerly Ring Home Basic. Its own page runs to 862 words and nineteen features without printing a price. Here is everything Ring does say.

No — the live feed is free on all four. Keeping the video is the part that costs, and on two of them the free way to keep it means hardwiring a battery doorbell.

eufy is cheaper every year at both tiers. The number that matters more is what each camera does when you pay nothing — and only one of them still records.
Subscriptions
Yes — “No Monthly Fees” is printed on every page of Lorex's own shop. The catch is not the free tier; it is how little the paid plan actually covers.
Subscriptions
Yes — live view and motion alerts. Arlo's plans page says only “certain features”; its product pages say which, and recording is not one of them.

Nest works without a subscription, but free recording varies by model. Compare live view, short event history, snapshots, and local storage.

Ring's own page lists them, and this week it renamed itself “legacy”. What you lose, what does not come back, and what the other makers publish.
